How is a weighted final grade calculated?

Final = Σ (Score × Weight ÷ 100). Each component contributes in proportion to its weight; total weight must equal 100%.

What score do I need on the final to pass?

Solve for the final's score: Needed = (Target − Earned-so-far) ÷ FinalWeight × 100. e.g. need 70% overall, earned 60% from 70% of the course → Final = (70 − 60) ÷ 30 × 100 = 33.3%.

How are letter grades assigned?

Most US grading scales use 90+ A, 80–89 B, 70–79 C, 60–69 D, below 60 F. Your institution may use a +/− system or different cutoffs — check the syllabus.

Does this support extra credit?

Add extra credit as a component with a small weight, keeping the total at 100%. If your course adds extra credit on top of 100%, compute your standard grade first and then add the bonus separately.
