Formula

CGPA = Σ (Semester GPA × Semester Credits) ÷ Σ Semester Credits Percentage (India, 10-point): % ≈ CGPA × 9.5 (UGC convention) Percentage (US, 4-point): % ≈ CGPA × 25

How it works

CGPA (Cumulative GPA) extends GPA across all completed semesters. It is the credit-weighted average of every semester GPA — the most-used academic metric for degree programs in India (10-point) and the US (4-point).

Example

Example: Four semesters 8.2:24, 7.9:22, 8.5:24, 8.1:22 → total points = 196.8 + 173.8 + 204 + 178.2 = 752.8 over 92 credits → CGPA ≈ 8.18 (≈ 77.7% via UGC convention).
